==Development and production== Battle for Dream Island characters were first conceived as a series of hand-drawn comic strips starting from May 2, 2008, originally created by Michael and Cary Huang as a school project with "FIREY to keep our customers happy", although Cary originated three objects from a variation of rock-paper-scissors. Then, one of the first characters ever created, Firey, would go on to be the titular character of the Firey comic series. The series would be first conceived on August 18, 2009 after Michael and Cary's family went into a one-week vacation trip to Hawaii and got inspired by Total Drama Island and Survivor so they had the idea to create a Flash-animated web series to YouTube. Although two Flash projects were made before the conception, production began on September 2009 and "Take the Plunge" would be uploaded on January 1, 2010 on the jacknjellify channel. The series original schedule was month by month starting on the first date, of each month. It was produced between their freetime from home work from middle school. The first season was made for 25 months straight, always releasing on the first day of it. After the short period of voting, writing took one week. Voice acting took only a day, and has been estimated that it they took 3 days for sound designing. For the remainder of production, it took 2 weeks to finish it. At some point in April 2011, the series could have been canceled until one of Cary's friends advised them to not to do it with their recent subscriber growth. After the release and the end of the first season, Battle for Dream Island Again began on June 29, 2012 and was only put in hiatus due to the Huang twins junior year high school getting more busier which made more difficult to produce more episodes until "Well Rested" or BFDIA 6. On March 10, 2014, their AdSense account (their form of monetization) was suspended, ending their profit income revenue, and spawned a three-year hiatus in BFDI-related content, resulting in the initial cancelation. The season would be revived 10 years after the proposed release date of the sixth episode which was finally released and revived the season. Initially, the second season wouldn't be revived but was initially replaced with IDFB, on September 1, 2016 after the jacknjellify's AdSense account being reinstated in June 2016. The season ended up in hiatus again, and it still is to this day. Battle for BFB, formerly titled Battle for BFDI, would be premiered on November 3, 2017 and would continue until the split with the release of "The Escape from Four" on March 16, 2020, where Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two was announced with over 42 contestants, while BFB kept only 14 contestants. TPOT would only premiere on January 10, 2021 and the series remained popular. Between to today, the series has begun having notable audiences, especially young. The series is mostly animated on Adobe Animate, previously Macromedia Flash, with a massive number of storyboard artists, voice actors, and animators. The scripts were made using paper drawings through storyboards, on all seasons. More than 40 voice actors worked on the show and over 100 crew members are in the object show. One thing in common of all intros for BFDI (except BFB) is "bass 8ths sample.wav" by beatloaf on Freesound.org, which was first used by the Huang twins as part of the theme of the first season. The series is uploaded through the YouTube channel named "jacknjellify", registered on February 4, 2008. The music used in the show was originally composed by royalty-free musician Kevin MacLeod for three seasons until Michael Huang, with his music career, composed the songs for the rest of the current seasons. MacLeod's classic and nostalgic Internet music has been rarely used.
