===Season one (''BFDI'')===

The first season of ''BFDI'', under the same name as the series, premiered on January 1, 2010 and ran on YouTube until [[January 2]], 2012 with the season finale "[[Return of the Hang Glider]]". 

The season only had 25 episodes with 21 contestants with [[Firey]] being the winner of [[Dream Island]]. There were over 3 eliminated characters who rejoined ([[Blocky]], [[Spongy]] and [[Flower]]) and only one debuter joined ([[David]]). It was primarily hosted by the [[Announcer]], but after his initial destruction, he was replaced by [[Firey Speaker Box]] and [[Flower Speaker Box]], before the main host returning.

Up until the [[merge]], the season was dominated by two (later three) [[teams]], [[Squishy Cherries]] and [[Squashy Grapes]]. Later, a new team was formed, named, by accident, [[Another Name]].

The second season of ''BFDI'', titled ''Battle for Dream Island Again'' and abbreviated as ''BFDIA'', began its run on June 29, 2012 and it features 22 contestants (12 returning ones and 10 newcomers). Unlike last season, where there were only 3 hosts (the [[Announcer]], [[Firey Speaker Box]] and [[Flower Speaker Box]]), there were 5 hosts ([[TV]], [[Puffball Speaker Box]], Firey Speaker Box, Flower and [[bugs]]), though the Announcer has been canonically running the season.<ref>''Battle for Dream Island'': ''[[Battle for Dream Island#Season four (BFB)|Battle for BFB]]'': "[[SOS (Save Our Show)]]"</ref> The prize of course is [[Dream Island (BFDIA)|W.O.A.H. The fifth episode was split into 5 parts, with the second part, ''[[BFDIA 5b]]'', been a video game instead of a viewable episode. The entire episode is about the contestants traversing to get to the top of the summit of [[Yoyle Mountain]].

The season would return on September 1, [[2023]] with the official release of "[[Well Rested]]". As of January 1, [[2025]], it currently has over 17 episodes (21 if counting the parts of BFDIA 5 as episodes).

The third season, titled ''dnalsI maerD rof elttaB'' and mostly abbreviated as ''IDFB'', was the first post-cancelation season of ''BFDI'' and it took place in the country of [[Yoyleland]].<ref>''Battle for Dream Island'': ''[[Battle for Dream Island#Season three (IDFB)|IDFB]]'': "[[Welcome Back]]"</ref> As of September 1, [[2016]], only [[Welcome Back|one episode]] was released to the public as the series remained in indefinite hiatus after a dormant time. Either it will return after the end of ''BFDIA'' or ''BFDI:TPOT'' as it was never announced if it was canceled.

The contestants are the same as the amount after the premiere of the episode "Well Rested" and it was confirmed that there will be no host, meaning it will be [[Non-competitional genre|non-competitional]], but it will still have [[Competitional genre|competitional]] aspects like [[viewer voting]]. Because of the season being so short with only one episode, it is the only season to not have an episode affected by [[Battle for Dream Island's 15th anniversary|the shift]].

===Season four (''BFB'')===

With over 30 episodes in 4 years, the fourth season of ''BFDI'', titled ''Battle for BFDI'' and later ''Battle for BFB'', is the longest airing season of the show. This is also the first season of the series to air with the [[Hand-drawn style|hand-drawn]] animation style, simplified and more loosely.

The first half of the season followed 64 contestants (half being newcomers) battling for [[A BFDI]], hosted by [[Four]] and [[X]], which later was revealed to be the full archive of the first two seasons of the series. The first half also took place in [[Goiky|North Goiky]]. The [[elimination]] style kept the same as object shows before this one.

With the split from the episode "[[The Escape from Four]]" (released in [[2020]]), where a fifth season, ''Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two'', aired simultaneously, the second half became ''Battle for BFB'', where 14 of the remaining contestants battled for both [[A BFB]] and A BFDI. The season took place in the [[Pillary Ruins]] and the [[Desert]] due to [[The Hidden Contestant|issues with fans]]. The elimination style kept for the fans to vote for saving the contestants to get away from being eliminated. The overall winner of the season was [[Flower]], who was also the first eliminated character in the series, with the season finale "[[Chapter Complete]]".

The fifth season of ''Battle for Dream Island'', titled ''Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two'' or abbreviated as ''TPOT'', is the most recent of the five. The season originated from the split in ''BFB'' and it currently features over 44 contestants battling for [[Two]]'s [[The Power of Two|abilities which are limitless]]. Over one contestant joined the show automatically (Teardrop) and four debuted to the show (with half being new, [[Winner (BFDI)|Winner]] and [[Price Tag]], the others being Pencil and Liy). Possibly, the main antagonists of the season involves two [[Algebralian|Algebralians]], [[Three]] and [[One (BFDI)|One]]. The season currently has over 14 episodes (since [[November]] [[November 9|9]], [[2024]]) and the elimination style kept the same as the previous season. Airing begun on January 10, [[2021]].

===Release schedule===
In the early seasons, the series mostly had a schedule of release from every first day of the month. During the time of ''IDFB'', the release schedule had an announced date. The post-revival ''BFDIA'' has a schedule of one to two months from the first or second day of the month in some locations.

Since ''Battle for BFB'', the schedule for most of the recent seasons has been unscheduled, mostly revealed through teasers or (formerly) other kinds of videos like shorts or music videos.
