It stars a large cast with the chaos ensuing Inanimate Island and the events of the final contest of the competition, both hosted by MePhone4 and usurped by Steve Cobs before the end of chaos resulting in the deletion of everything MePhone has created. Later, a battle takes Cobs with it and restores the island and Box as well. The film was initially premiered throughout November 2024, initially in London, England, United Kingdom at the Rich Mix Theatre, then a day after the initial screening, the episode was premiered again at 2 of the Laemmle Theaters in Los Angeles, California. All of them were early screenings, similar to the meetups. Just shortly before the global release on November 29, LeanBeans leaked the full movie to YouTube. == Synopsis == After escaping his creator, MePhone began a series of reality show competitions. Now, his newest season has come down to its final two contestants, Suitcase and Knife. But when MePhone’s past comes back to haunt him, not only will it put his contestants in danger, but it may stop his show from having a proper ending. === Act 1 === Welcome to the long-awaited, not-to-be-interrupted, Inanimate Insanity season two FINALE! Our finalists, Knife and Suitcase, have battled their way to the end of a very bizarre competition, slowly adapting themselves with every challenge. But after a declined phone call results in deadly consequences, the two must put what they've learned to the test, and race to save everyone. However... there's no adapting to the truth at the finish line. === Act 2 === After a shocking revelation, our two finalists are tasked with one last, terrifying challenge. As the world crumbles around them, Knife and Suitcase slowly come to realize that they have no choice about what to do next. Meanwhile, the residents of the hotel and mansion struggle to survive. === Act 3 === It was only a matter of time before MePhone had to face the consequences. He once thought he could escape his fate, but Cobs insists the reality of the situation is that MePhone never had a choice of his own. == Production and release == === Act 1 === During Inanimate Insanity<nowiki/>'s fifth anniversary (April 1, 2016), Adam Katz confirmed that he wanted to end the season with 16 episodes in the Kickstarter crowdfunding video. A goal was planned for 17 episodes for a stretch but that never reached. After the ending of Inanimate Insanity Invitational, it was thought that Inanimate Insanity II returned to production and it did, with the release of "Truth or Flare". During the BFDI/II crew barbecue live feed stream on the jacknjellify channel from May 25, 2024, Katz confirmed that the sixteenth episode of the season was "in active development". During the BFDI & Inanimate Insanity Tour of 2024, the II crew revealed several things for the then-movie, including aiming to release on the year on multiple parts, being long enough to be considered a movie, written by Brian Koch (one of the Core Three), described as a "tornado", Steve Cobs and Pickle both appearing, and also described as the most favorite thing they've ever done. On July 5, Koch revealed in relation to the episode for "a really cool closing credits sequence" on his Twitter. Then on August 16, he hosted a live stream for the aftermath of the release of the season's fifteenth episode and responded to many questions for the finale, including being served as the finale movie, having two special guests, the first word of the transcript (which was "They"), OJ and Taco both appearing, and the writing being completed, with animation being worked at the moment, as well as aimed to released before Christmas 2024. On August 20, Brian Koch officially referred the movie length episode as Inanimate Insanity II: The Movie as a multi part finale. Characters like Fan, Paper and Trophy were confirmed to appear in the episode and later that day, Marco Bonomo and Jazzy Oliver would voice act some of the film. A week later, Koch revealed that every episode would have its own title and that the collective would form the movie. The trailer for Act 1 was uploaded to YouTube on September 1 where it was revealed that it was coming out on September 7. On September 3, Koch hosted a Questions & Answers live stream for information about the film, where it was revealed that the crew considered their magnum opus (masterpiece), biggest source of inspiration was from Toy Story 3, the Prime Shimmer having relevancy, OJ having a speaking role, deaths could occur, the separate parts being uploaded into one, and aimed to release in 2024. A day later, new shots were revealed after the final trailer for the first act was released. Just a day before release, Koch revealed the full name of the first act, that being "The Reality of the Situation" and another live stream was hosted, this time on the AnimationEpic channel. While in a poll for who the Object Show Community was rooting for the winner, 9 AM PST was the time the episode was gonna be released. === Act 2 === Just a day after the release of the first act, Koch hosted another live stream chatting again about the first act. A few weeks after the release of "The Reality of the Situation", Brian Koch hosted once again a live stream where he chatted about the film, and he revealed that the first word of the second act was "Marshmallow". Three days after the live stream, AnimationEpic revealed that if they reach 650 thousand subscribers, through a community post, they would release the trailer for the episode. Just a day later, the announcement led to the largest subscriber growth the channel ever got in a single day. The growth would be boosted through a YouTube short to subscribe with a short clip of the episode. The Core Three hosted a live stream on the AnimationEpic channel for more people to subscribe to, but only reached from around 644,000 to around 647,000. Despite not reaching the goal, the episode was released anyway, scheduled to be on October 12. The channel however hit the 650,000 milestone two days before the actual release. Just a day before the milestone, Koch posted three challenges for users to do, with the first being replying with 52 covers of the song "The Future Is So Yesterday". With the challenge completed, two words of the title were revealed, though not in order, being "Their" and "Of". The final challenge was what Inanimate Insanity meant to the viewer. On October 11, a live stream in AnimationEpic was hosted under the title "Purgatory PARTY!" where it was revealed that the final words were "No" and "Own". === Act 3 === Inanimate Insanity II's ARGThe following seemed to be interruptions between the real world and the fictional world, where Steve Cobs and the other bots attempted to get the real world counterparts. Throughout up until the release of Act 2, Adam Katz's Twitter account kept complaining about a weird noise before October 12, where his account was deleted, before being restored a few days later, rebranded under A.D.A.M.'s control. On October 13, Cobs and his human bots came in to host a live stream on YouTube, titled as a Q&A but it did not allowed any questions at all. 3 days later, Brian Koch hosted a live stream driving to an unknown location, escaping with Justin Chapman from "something". Just before the end, both were caught by the thing. At exactly 7 PM UTC on October 16, A.D.A.M. started Inanimate Insanity II<nowiki/>'s ARG, meant to show the only details that were available to show about the final act. It was finished just 43 minutes and it was revealed that it would release on late November 2024. On November 8, the trailer for the final episode was released and it did not revealed anything shocking, except for the release date, being on November 29. It would also be premiered earlier on November 24 to 26 at the Rich Mix Theatre, London and the Laemmle theaters respectively. == Plot overview == === The Reality of the Situation === ==== Cold open: Past and present ==== During the invasion, MePhone3GS tries to escape the Shimmer Planet, the home world of the Light Shimmers, with his fellow buddies (MePhone1 and MePhone3G) because they stole some Egg Shimmers. While 3GS attempts to escape, 1 talks about continuing the mission for the future before being shot and exploded. 3G tries to reason for 3GS to surrender but he decides to continue. Preparing the Meeple Rocket to liftoff and return to Inanimate Earth, MePhone3GS sees that MePhone3G is being left and helps her to get to the Rocket, but she is shot before they could enter back. In the immediate aftermath, a Control Shimmer attacks 3GS and leaves one Egg with him, with the other being left in the door. While the rocket closes, lifting off, the remaining Egg Shimmer is lost, flying in space (possibly falling to Mars). 3GS wakes up and reassures that he can do this. To the present day, MePhone4 announces "the long-anticipated, not to be interrupted, finale" for Inanimate Insanity II. Recalling the times he made the auditions for the contestants (Suitcase and Knife), he believed that one of them could become a millionaire by winning the prize. While still interrupted by someone familiar, he decides to host the challenge in the next day, something that would happen earlier. ==== Challenge: Progress for the finale ==== ==== Meanwhile: Hotel OJ and Purgatory Mansion ==== === Through No Choice of Your Own === ==== Challenge: Cobs takes control ==== ==== Meanwhile: Chaos reigns ==== ==== Aftermath: The end? ==== Immediately after taking off the plug, the spaceship disappears, Cobs is taken by MePhoneX, and Knife and Suitcase are prepared to be killed, only to disappear entirely. Everything MePhone4 created was gone, and X was destroyed, with Cobs surviving. Heartbroken by everything he wanted to prepare, MePhone agrees to get back to Meeple Island and (indirectly) canceling II once and for all. But the end... was actually nigh. === Objects in Mirror === ==== Exposition: The battle begins ==== "Karma Waits" is the song playing first in the episode. Seeing how MePhone4's pain was from his creations and being betrayed was also his trauma of happening. Reaching to the place where it all began, he is taken by Steve Cobs, revealing he called for backup and it could take a few minutes. Cobs attempted to motivate him that the show was a good idea, he'd forgive him and that they could be planning a reboot, in his own words, "professionally" with some major changes than what MePhone had done in the past. Even when Cobs attempted to motivate him with the loss of everything, he promised that it would get easier, but remained to stay completely silent. Steve opted to threat him to get in a lot of trouble. Just immediately after this, the Shimmer Saucer lands to what was once Inanimate Island and Cobs motivates MePhone once again to prove his alliance with his creator. By revealing that everything MePhone loved was gone, he gets scared and does not want to be prepared for the worst to come to pass. The Prime Shimmer comes in and is introduced to Cobs and his "assistant" MePhone4. The Light Shimmers actually came to retrieve a part of their youth from their "reality show" as Fan told them previously. While walking down the Island, he explains about Inanimate Insanity and ends up saying what just happened years prior to the meeting and proposing to the Prime Shimmer that one of their eggs are still in the Island, before MePhone told them to run away because Steve Cobs was planning to kill them. Cobs stabs the Prime Shimmer before sending one of his eyes to Cobs' arm and nearly burning it. The Light Shimmers retrieve their leader and ends up sending him back to the Egg Spaceship and resulting to their return. Angry behind his ally, he decided that since he was disobeying him wouldn't be resolved, he opted to kill one of his own creations. Using the Meeple Knife to kill MePhone4 in the most painful way ever, the battle begins. When MePhone questions if he had finished his "keynote speech", he was instead punched, causing his screen to be broken and he kept punching him. Steve wanted every MePhone he had at the time, but all of them except 3GS and 4 were destroyed previously. His speech begins again, attempted to threat him to destroy him and saying that there was no one to save him. But MePad was there, alongside Bow and Dough, who were surprisingly alive. Cobs, having no choice, decides to hunt MePad down too. In the battle, Cobs was briefly possessed by Dough and takes off three corn pieces of himself, nearly about to be killed, only to be saved by Bow herself. Ready to fight Cobs, she couldn't because of the Purgatory Mansion parameters. Taking advantage of the situation, he resumes the fight against MePad and attempts to kill her. ==== Worsening: Inside MePhone4 ==== Inside MePhone4, a lot of things he created starts to appear. OJ returns, groaning, only to realize where he was wasn't Hotel OJ, and it appears in front of him. Paper, walking around, finds himself near a piano, something that he had seen before. Pressing the button reveals that MePhone was calling them and discovers that his contestants are still alive and that they also discovered MePhone4's core apart of him, realizing that without it, he couldn't generate anything. Meanwhile, Steve Cobs finally notices that his contestants are still alive inside MePhone4, with the latter being asked to hurry up. Ready for the race, they began with many of them reaching to the end. They also discover that a red line was chasing them, eliminating them if lost which would have resulted in their permanent death. Nickel was saved from death by Baseball for example. When most including Box were finished, the only one remaining was Marshmallow when Suitcase and Knife were checking, and the latter saved Marshmallow from the red line by some "random act of kindness". Knife sacrificed himself and died as a result. ==== Climax: Intensification ==== Meanwhile again, MePhone4 was about to be killed before... MePad was killed in shock. Shot by his creator, he was permanently deactivated. With nowhere left to run, MeLife suddenly gets a notification to recover a large number of files. And when everything was thought to be lost, MePhone4 recovers everything he created. Balloon was ready to fight, but realizes that he couldn't be recovered thanks to Cobs saying that. Noticing Suitcase having a glow, he discovers that the core keeping MePhone's power and takes it away. Nearing to victory, the battle ends when Suitcase reveals that it's a bomb and explodes in front of Cobs, killing him. When MePhone questions how he made that, was from his Pic-Nix tables but where the real was, it was inside Box herself. ==== Resolution: Aftermath ==== The Shimmer screams, attracting the Egg Spaceship and its true father, so she gives it back. Toilet also returns, being forgiven by MePhone as well. Taco also realizes that MePad was gone too. Trophy questions why Knife wasn't in his "funeral" and instead was at the parameters, as a ghost. With Balloon hopeless of recovery, Suitcase recovers that, thinking about rebuilding what was once both Hotel OJ and Purgatory Mansion, not even anyone would give up on Knife. Lightbulb's answer to a question by MePhone on who won the season was pointing out on Suitcase for planting the bomb. While he would give the 1 million dollars prize, he realized that his show was his way to rebel against Cobs but felt that he was still being used by him. Forgiven, he gives the chance for everyone that he won't do the competition show anymore and moves on, going away from the contestants. After Soap meets Taco, she threats her that if she hurts her one more time, she would face some consequences, but it is forgiven. Bot, the only one alive outside of MePhone's creation, pops up and Fan realizes that there would be something between Bot and Bow at the same time. Meanwhile, he reencounters with MePhone3GS and talks about stuff about his arrival at the Inanimate Island but he was also sorry about not recognizing who MePhone4 was and scared him, but 4 says that he never scared him. Both became friends after being freed from Cobs' cruel actions. Control Shimmer questions to Prime Shimmer with the former contestants needing something and he agreed. Meanwhile, Box is introduced to the rest, including Cabby. Sometime later, the Dedication Ceremony begins and with the former contestants and Spoiled Lemon, they sing the song "I, I" to celebrate their victory, with multiple memories from the past. After the concert by Spoiled Lemon, Suitcase climbs up to the roof of what was once the Purgatory Mansion, where Knife was. Suitcase brought a poem by Balloon which doesn't rhyme. When she regarded about Knife's sacrifice, he called it as a random act of kindness by the patterns. The finalists laugh and they decides to climb down with a good finale, ending a 13-year series, for about a few months. == Appearances by type == === Characters === ==== Contestants ==== * Suitcase (winner) * Knife (death) ===== Former contestants ===== * Box * OJ * Paper * Test Tube * Fan * Soap * Lightbulb * Paintbrush * Cheeries * Cheesy * Baseball * Microphone * Salt * Pepper * Balloon * Trophy * Cabby * Candle * Goo * Tissues * Taco * Pickle * Apple * Marshmallow * Bomb * Bow * Dough * Yin-Yang * Nickel ==== Hosts ==== * MePhone4 * MePad (death) * Steve Cobs (death) ==== Meeple ==== * MePhoneX (death) * MePhone1 (flashback) * MePhone3G (flashback) * MePhone3GS * A.D.A.M. * B.R.I.A.N. * J.U.S.T.I.N. * MeTag ==== Other characters ==== * Baxter ===== Light Shimmers ===== * Light Shimmers * Prime Shimmer * Control Shimmer * Egg Shimmer ===== Attempted debuters ===== * Teddy Bear ===== Spoiled Lemon ===== * Starfruit * Guava * Pineapple * Lemon * Tomato * Mangosteen === Locations === * Inanimate Insanity universe ** Inanimate Earth *** Inanimate Island **** Hotel OJ **** Purgatory Mansion **** Gladstonian Glacier **** 60 foot cliff **** Gemory Cave (flashback) **** Elimination area (flashback) **** Audition area *** MeCloud **** Meeple Headquarters *** Paradise **** Volcano ** Shimmer Planet *** Meeple Rocket *** Shimmer Saucer * MeAfterlife === Items === * Egg Shimmers * Meeple Rocket * Dr. Fizz * MeLife * InvisiBow * Cookie * Me * Pic-Nix tables * Meeple Knife * MeCore * MePhone4's impossible race === Groups and organizations === * Meeple Inc. * (line) * Light Shimmers * Spoiled Lemon === Events === * Meeple invasion of the Shimmer Planet * MePhone4's rebellion against Steve Cobs (mentioned) * Hotel OJ Party incident * MePhone4's competition ** Final contest * Battle of Inanimate Island * Dedication Ceremony === Species === * Object ** Artificial object * Light Shimmer === Other === * Inanimate Insanity ** Inanimate Insanity Invitational == Voice cast == * Justin Chapman ** Knife ** Paper ** MePad ** Goo ** J.U.S.T.I.N. * Sam Thornbury ** Suitcase ** The Floor * Rheagan Rizio ** Taco * Joshua Waters ** Steve Cobs * Michael Bruzzone ** Lightbulb * Patrick Mealey ** OJ * Adam Katz ** Baseball ** Nickel ** Test Tube ** Lifering ** A.D.A.M. * Jazzy Oliver ** Paintbrush * Dee Cashin ** Marshmallow ** Candle ** Cheese ** Clover * Benjamin Cross ** MePhone3GS ** Balloon * Mark Katz ** MePhone4 * Brandon Shim ** Prime Shimmer * Derek Napolitano ** Pickle * Branden Whiteside ** Tissues * Marco Bonomo ** Yin-Yang * Hailey Chapman ** Microphone * Brian Koch ** Fan ** MePhone4S ** Starfruit ** B.R.I.A.N. ** Ballpoint Pen ** Talking Hand * Oliver Smith ** Toilet * Angela Giarratana ** Guava * Skyler Lent ** Bow * Aisha Rae ** Box * Kacie Chapman ** Soap * Sacri ** Dough * Alexa Chapman ** Pepper ** Salt * Justin Napolitano ** Trophy * Max Weissman ** Bomb * Casey Landman ** Cabby * Barry Strum ** Blueberry * Jill Katz ** Tea Kettle * Shooshies ** Bot * Zuwie Lefou ** Springy * Rosemary Craig ** Walkie Talkie * YellowAngiru ** MePhone1 * Olivia Ciabattari ** MePhone3G * Americatress ** Control Shimmer * Geoff Goldfeder ** Mecintosh == Production crew == {{Quote|All of the stunts in this movie were performed by animated objects. This is a likely reference to the DuckTales episode "Moonvasion!", where Violet Sabrewing displays a similar reaction to Darkwing Duck. * Salt saying "What else is new?" is a reference to Lollipop saying the same line in the Battle for BFDI episode "Four Goes Too Far". === Act 3 === * The episode title is potentially a reference to the warning text seen on automobile side mirrors, which states "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear". This phrase could serve as a double-meaning, referring to the contestants and their relationships in the context of the episode. * MePhone4S brings up that he was based off of "old movies" Cobs used to watch, referring to the Terminator franchise. ** He also says he wouldn't be surprised if Cobs himself stole his style from someone else, alluding to Steve Jobs, the founder and former CEO of Apple Inc. * Bot's hidden appearance as a spoiler is a direct TV trope of cartoon characters having their entire appearance hidden throughout their screen time. There are few examples, such as Miss Bellum in the Powerpuff Girls original series. * Apple brings up that all good endings should be like those animated movies that end with a dance party after brutally killing the villain (which did happened), which is actually a common trope with some animation studios such as DreamWorks Animation. * MeAfterlife's sky resembles some of the default wallpaper backgrounds found on older versions of macOS. == Continuity references == === Act 1 === * "Truth or Flare": The movie takes place after the events of the episode. * "Mine Your Own Business": The Meeple invasion of the Shimmer Planet appears as a flashback. The audio seen in the thirteenth episode is heard clearly. * "Marsh on Mars": The Egg Shimmer must have fallen of the Meeple Rocket to Mars. * "Breaking the Ice": The audition for Suitcase still has the original style when the season began. *"The Crappy Cliff" and "A Lemony Lesson": Knife's audition has the first lazy style the series got. The style is also seen during Steve Cobs' meeting between the duo. === Act 2 === * "The Reality of the Situation": The act takes place after the events of the previous act. === Act 3 === * "Through No Choice of Your Own": This act takes place immediately after the previous act. * "Journey Through Memory Lane", "Let Er' R.I.P.", "Theft and Battery" and (possibly) "Alternate Reality Show": All of the rest of the MePhones (other than 4 and 3GS) were destroyed, leaving Cobs confused. * "Hatching the Plan": The Light Shimmers return again and they all references the time they abducted Fan. * "Inanimate Smackdown": A piano appears next to Paper, similar to the time the piano defeated Evil Paper. * "You Can't Do This Forever": For all of Springy's appearances, she glitches out. In "Objects in Mirror", she glitches so much that she (probably) was gone in mere seconds. * "Kick the Bucket": The same tentacles appear and try to get Suitcase. Moments later, it is revealed that the tentacles are the reason why Box became a completely inanimate corpse. * "Mazed and Confused": The maze of leaves appear, after years of their absence. * "4Seeing the Future" and "Journey Through Memory Lane": When MePhone4S appears, he references the phrase from the moment he initially killed MePhone4. * "Journey Through Memory Lane": The Talking Hand reappears, which is still inside MePhone4's hand, similarly in the way it first appeared. * "Truth or Flare": MePad still has the InvisiBow that Test Tube invented and Taco gave to her. * "The Shame of Your Name": The Pic-Nix tables reappear inside MeAfterlife. * "A New Stage In The Game": The failed debuters from the first season reappears and are permanently deleted by the Impossible Race. ==== Karma Waits references ==== * "Journey Through Memory Lane", "Out of Body Experience", "Everything's A-OJ", "Alternate Reality Show", "Rain On Your Charade", "Mazed and Confused" and "Kick the Bucket": All of which appears in MePhone's memories with the cast. * "The Crappy Cliff": A flashback appears when MePhone decides to start the show with the reality show voice. * "Sugar Rush", "Mine Your Own Business", "Cooking for the Grater Good", "Marsh on Mars", "Alternate Reality Show", "Kick the Bucket" and "Hatching the Plan": Just like the first, it all appears as memories of MePhone's trauma for the truth. ==== I, I references ==== * "Everything's A-OJ": Soap references her song "Keep On Cleaning". * "Stranded in Paradise" and "Home Is Where the Heart Is": The Floor returns and it is scrubbed like what Yin-Yang did sometime before. * "Kick the Bucket": Both Marshmallow and Bow references their song "Afterlife in the Limelight". * "Mazed and Confused": The song by Spoiled Lemon, "A Party", is both referenced and sung. * "Alternate Reality Show": Lightbulb references the song "Just Like Me!" and the time she had with Test Tube on Inanimate Insanity Infinity. Unlike the adventure, Paintbrush seems to know what happen, but she only played the part of her anger in the actual timeline, rather than being in the Infinity timeline. * "Truth or Flare": Taco remembers her time with MePad and stays together with Microphone after referencing the song "Taco's Tirade". * "The Reality of the Situation": Fan, despite never being involved directly with Steve Cobs during the challenge, references the song "The Future Is So Yesterday" with Test Tube and references Cobs' death. * "War De Guacamole": Nickel still remembers the "It's a Ball" commercial he aired back in the first season. * "The Stupid Trailer" and "Aquatic Conflict": Even though the community considers the trailer non-canon, Taco references the trailer (meaning it's canon) and still has the ability to switch to have arms and without arms. * 2013 Inanimate Insanity auditions: First noticed by Gamebuilder2000, Apple mentions how Taco could forget it, referencing what Baseball forgot about the "news". * "Spring on the Breakfast!": The references end with the direct mention of Springy and her commercial song, even though none of the Spoiled Lemon were apart of Inanimate Insanity Invitational. == Errors == * There are several errors of typing in the subtitles. == Reception == === Critical reception === The IMDB page for Inanimate Insanity scores the three episodes as 9.3, 9.5 and 9.9 respectively. As well the IMDB page for the film overall has a 9.3 score which is the highest in object show history. === Viewer ratings === == Aftermath and legacy == Just before the official YouTube release, a YouTuber by the name of LeanBeans leaked the final act before release. It was recorded during November 24, on the London screening and was released sometime between November 25 and 26. == See also == * "Self-Titled", the last episode of ONE. == References == <references /> == External links == * Official LAEMMLE film showing page * IMDB page
