The Competitional genre is the main genre composing the Object Show Community's purpose of production when it comes to object shows in general. It began with Battle for Dream Island and has remained as the most popular and largest genre in the community, for fourteen years straight.

Even though Battle for Dream Island was the very first object show ever, the show was inspired however by Total Drama (through its first season named Total Drama Island) and Survivor, back in 2009. Both of which were reality-competition TV shows and BFDI was however a web series.[1]
