Career history[edit | edit source]

Early career[edit | edit source]

Origins of the channel[edit | edit source]

Odyssey first created his YouTube channel on February 10, 2023, though has been watching and has been on the platform since 2011, and finished watching the entire Battle for Dream Island object show back in late January of the same year.[1] Around this time, he already wanted to create content on YouTube and had been planning that for months but was under dispute on what to make. He ended up choosing to make BFDI content.

He began producing the Mega Iceberg on BFDI on February 12 but it was about the Object Show Community as a whole, but because he didn't knew a lot about it. The reason why he made the iceberg large was because he was a fan of long-form content and video essays and saw that this part was lacking in the OSC. He moved the production documents on February 15 and had weekly iceberg updates on his community tab before deleting them all. Odyssey would take a small break from the project before returning on April 2 where he would start to make the script and finished it in 3 days.

Because his headset was low quality and would cut out some words, he had to buy another one, and he didn't used audio recording apps because the ones he used had terrible feedback. During the recordings of the project, the construction site period was loud and could have gotten him problems during production. Because of this, he became pretty inactive on production. Another problem arose being his aunt's chihuahuas and he hoped that they didn't barked or moved loudly. A third problem came in with the issues with his microphone and ended up fixing it with Audacity. He would take two days to make the first level of the iceberg and during the voiceover of level 2, the problems on his microphone got worse, getting to the point where it came when he was 9 entries in with two hours of production. This ended up demotivating him and ended up attempting to cancel the project with his bad thoughts in his mind getting worse and worse.

One day, after helping out with groceries, YouTube recommended a video where the person's microphone wasn't terrible. As a result, a phrase appeared which was: "If people can understand what I'm saying, that's ok." After taking a break, he finally found out what was wrong with his microphone, the wire was connected on the wrong way. Oops. Odyssey continued to voice between May 2 to May 9. He used the editing software DaVinci Resolve 18 on May 16. He published a video about the intro for the second layer and ended up privating the video. It took 2 hours to render the video and published it on May 26.[2]

Rise to success[edit | edit source]

He first uploaded a bar chart race of the BFDI series votes from the original season to TPOT back on February 27, 2023. The Mega Iceberg video at first ended up being a failure, making him sad, before the video blew up with several YouTubers promoting it in their community tab posts, some of these include Fourtle and AnimationObjectShow.[2]

He made three more videos, which were the aftermath of the first half of the 2023 BFDI X Inanimate Insanity Experience about how to avoid the leaks, ranking over 77 BFDI characters (revealing his favorite was Fanny) and the production of the MEGA Iceberg.[3][4]

False exposure[edit | edit source]

On November 15, HyperCrystal, a YouTuber who ironically had promoted his Mega Iceberg video and with MilesDoodlesArt, had made a document exposing Odyssey for being a "groomer" through screenshots with him being a 23 year old chatting with a 17-year old and being "too over obsessed" with him. Despite the lack of evidence in some moments of the document, most people believed what both said, and Odyssey had to disappear for months, including the deletion of his Twitter account.[5]

Interregnum[edit | edit source]

During this time, Odyssey had lost a few subscribers and had to stay completely radio-silent. During this period, many people still had the thoughts that he was a groomer.

Hyper had warned his fans that Odyssey changed his YouTube icon, revealing that he may be active. Actually, Hyper came to OdysseyTen's inactive Twitter profile and demanded to change the icon and block him on Discord.

Two of his friends came to contact HyperCrystal on either Twitter or Discord. Luna had attempted to contact him on Twitter but gained no response, same as Jake. But for Jake's case, he used a throwaway account and had gained contact.[5]

Current[edit | edit source]

Return and response[edit | edit source]

On July 20, 2024, OdysseyTen returned after months of inactivity confirming what happened between and the flaws Hyper and Miles' document had, as well as the lack of evidence towards some parts. On July 21, he recreated his Twitter while also gaining back his subscribers.

Future[edit | edit source]

Currently, the channel is on hiatus and might come back between late 2024 or early 2025. He made a livestream where he talked about the future of the channel, but that wasn't so successful, so he made a video instead. The channel had returned to hiatus but he does have a notepad to remember on making videos on certain topics.[6] Some are done, some were scrapped, some are unsure and some are on hold.

Objectsona[edit | edit source]

Odyssey, despite not being in the Object Show Community yet, he has an objectsona, or what he calls his original character, named Iceberg. The asset was done by "FormerDirt" before receiving a much more needed update with more spikes, done sometime around late-August 2024.

Content[edit | edit source]

Initially, the content was supposed to be around BFDI, but since Odyssey returned to the OSC, he has since expanded into further topics such as characters from object shows about them, the history of some such as Inanimate Insanity II, and more. All of this however is on the future. Sometimes, he does some livestreams talking about things, reacting to certain episodes and more.
