MePhone4 is the fourth generation of the MePhone line of products by Meeple Inc. and the host of Inanimate Insanity. Unlike most MePhones like his successors and predecessors, 4 has the ability to generate objects through MeCore and MeLife which resulted in the start of the competition. His position was heavily succeeded by usurpers or by choice of the law until the show's ending.[1][2][3] He is currently one of the two last surviving MePhones ever alive.[4]

Creation and development[edit | edit source]

MePhone4 is a character originally conceived by Adam Katz back in 2011. He was inspired by the Apple Inc. product, iPhone4.

Christian Potenza, the voice actor of the character Chris McLean of the show where BFDI was first inspired (Total Drama), was originally the voice actor of MePhone4 before being replaced by Mark Katz, Adam's father. It was originally planned that MePhone would have a different voice every episode but it was scrapped.[5]

History[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

MePhone4 was first assembled in New York on June 24 sometime before 2011.[1][6] The first thing he saw was the Meeple Inc. logo and then his creator, Steve Cobs, introducing himself and MePhone's purpose. Steve Cobs, after seeing that MePhone's first words were of a pun, notices that he is still corrupted as a result of the "MeCore" from an Egg Shimmer (from the Meeple invasion from the Shimmer Planet) he inserted to him. As a highly advanced machine, he had the ability to generate objects since his first activation. Moments after his activation, Cobs gives him the screen protection layer to him.[7] The chronology of his early life is mostly mysterious. The following is a presumed timeline of events in possible order.

From his Memory gems, one day, MePhone4 and his creator Steve Cobs tests out his generation from the MeCore and creates a tree. By the end of the day, Cobs wanted a spaceship which he did.[8]

Following the criticisms against the product himself like performance issues and glitches, Steve Cobs was already planning to release a new generation of the MePhone line of products, being MePhone4S, with plans being in a box with his infamous sunglasses. With a smaller version of his spaceship, MePhone4 announced it before Cobs screaming in front of him about not being careful enough. With Steve lying about MePhone improving, 4 felt demotivated about it and emotionally abused.[8]

It is regarded that Steve Cobs was an abusive father, with an episode regarding his liking for competition shows and reality TV, even though his creator doesn't like it, obviously by calling it "trash". Yet, Cobs still wanted him to know about his tasks, and he was preparing for it.[8] The origins of his future competition show would be around his time in Meeple Headquarters, conceiving his contestants through paper drawings and a short phrase around their personality and trait.[3]

The most plausible cause to his rebellion against Cobs was his trauma with his predecessor, MePhone3GS. MePhone4 decided to investigate the storage room after he saw Steve Cobs creating A.D.A.M. and hid away. While inspecting a storage room from the Meeple Headquarters, MeCloud, passing by Mecintosh and A.D.A.M., he noticed a damaged 3GS, and greeted by the audio recording of the invasion sometime before his birth, hearing the voice of the Prime Shimmer. MePhone4, upon hearing his final words before being possibly tortured, ran away from the storage room, afraid that the same would happen to him.[8]

Just shortly after this incident, he started his rebellion running away from the headquarters. While doing so, he notices that Cobs also created MePad and decided to take him too. In his spaceship, he indirectly saw his goodbye to Steve Cobs and went to Inanimate Island, Inanimate Planet. As a result, he left MePad alone in the Memory Cave and took off his memory gems, as well as his protective screen.[8] Shortly after this, he created his contestants and brought them to life and used to start Inanimate Insanity a reality show voice.[4]

Inanimate Insanity[edit | edit source]

Shortly after introducing to the audience who he was, he just straight up shows the contestants he created in the ugly landscape. Announcing the first challenge being to jump to the water hole of a 60 foot cliff. The winners were Lightbulb and Balloon (gaining hope after nearly no one won the challenge) and only told to form the teams in the next episode.[9] In an alternate timeline, due to the actions of future Lightbulb in the past, Salt and Pepper won the challenge.[10]
