FIREY to keep our customers happy is a school project comic created by Cary Huang on May 2, 2008. It is the first pre-BFDI comic, a series of paper drawings that eventually led to the creation of the object show Battle for Dream Island, but Water-Sponge-Fire precedes them all.[1]
Creation[edit | edit source]
The first pre-BFDI comic served as a 5th grade school project made by Cary Huang to make a fake catalog. Although Match and Woody were created here, Teardrop, Spongy and Firey were conceived through a variation of Rock-Paper-Scissors.
Plot[edit | edit source]
All panel sections, lines 1 to 4 (excluding the character name expositions), are all connected. Line 1 introduces Firey scaring Woody, claiming to burn anything, except that Teardrop came in to scare Firey off.
Match is questioned by Firey on why Woody can't speak words correctly, guessing that he never learned. The reason why Firey questioned this is because he wanted to know what he was saying.
Spongy was able to translate what Woody meant, which it said that he doesn't like Firey because he scared him. Spongy asked what it felt like to be so hot, and Firey ended up scaring him with one of Match's matches.
Firey, shortly after, apologized to Match for using one of her matches, explaining why he used one of them. She explained that his actions were mean and that Teardrop one day would do something similar to this with him. Ending things off, Firey joked that Spongy would handle that if the hypothesis was real.
