Pre-BFDI comics
Before the premiere of Battle for Dream Island, there were comics made before the public knowledge of the show. These comics were first produced in 2008 before stopping at some point in 2010.[1] It began with the comic titled "FIREY to keep our customers happy" and ended with Total Firey Points comic "Obstacle Course".
Background[edit | edit source]
Cary Huang had the idea of making a show since 2008 with an unreleased project named Total Kid Island (also inspired by Total Drama Island). Accompanying Michael, the duo had also made films back in 2005 through VHS tapes.

Canonicity[edit | edit source]
For a long time, the canonicity status of the original comics were disputed either being ambiguously canon or completely non-canon. For something to be considered canon, it needs to be confirmed by the show itself through continuity references, by the creator, or being a part of the main series.
The original Fandom wiki considered that the Pre-BFDI comics were non canon up until "Seasonal Shift" where, thanks to the shift and at least for Total Firey Island, it was confirmed that events most likely did exist at some point though the events of "Take the Plunge" are different such as the introduction of the Announcer, but some events does make sense for the original season and TFI such as the origin of Firey and Coiny's rivalry.
